PVL rivals prep for clash

Ashley Noder had two goals and two assists, Emma Obray scored twice and added an assist and the Placer High girls soccer team cruised past host Bear River 7-0 Wednesday afternoon. Stephanie Bonitata and Caitlin Letcher each had a goal and an assist, Lianna Moneypenny scored a goal and Ashley Cook added an assist for the Hillgals, who led 5-0 at halftime. Goalkeeper Audrey Furlong made eight saves for Placer, which improved to 10-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Pioneer Valley League heading into Friday night’s clash with archrival Colfax at LeFebvre Stadium. There will be giveaways and free admission for youths 12-and-under who wear their soccer uniforms to the game. The giveaways will be distributed between the JV and varsity games. The JV game is slated to start at 5:30, with the varsity following at 7. Colfax 2, Mesa Verde 0 at Citrus Heights — Mathilde Bosgiraud scored a header off a Kate Bianchi corner kick in the 20th minute and Ashley Broussard added an insurance goal off a Kacey Capuchino throw-in in the 55th minute. Amber Cramer made some big saves in the first half, but the Mavericks did not force the goalkeeper to make a second-half stop. The Falcons (13-0-3, 5-0-1 PVL).
