The American River Ranger District is doing under-burning in the Sugar Pine Reservoir area today.

The District is burning 47 acres located about a mile east of the Sugar Pine Reservoir – which is little over an hour from Auburn.

Last week 80 acres were burned to help reduce fuels and the risk of future wildfires.

Fire management personnel are working with the Redding Fire Weather Center and Placer County Air Pollution Control District to manage possible smoke impacts to local communities.

While burning procedures are in place to minimize smoke impacts, some smoke may settle into the valleys during the evenings and mornings until atmospheric conditions allow for smoke dispersal.

For questions about the burn program, and for current updates, call the Foresthill Ranger Station (530) 367-2224.
