Reader Input: John Hinckley was tackled

-A +A

Gordy, President Reagan was surrounded by enough firepower to take out a platoon when John Hinckley emptied his six-shooter wounding four people (“Blame these two for school killings,” Reader Input, Dec. 18). The presence of lawfully owned guns did not deter Hinckley, nor did gunfire stop him. He was tackled.
Had Hinckley had a large magazine handgun or an assault rifle, the outcome would have been a lot different.
Gordy, you’re a big guy, so if the need every arises, please use your body, not your gun, to take down a shooter.
