Reader Input: Joss House shares the joy

-A +A

On behalf of the Joss House Museum, I wish to extend a hearty appreciation to those of the community of Auburn for their generous support in attending the annual Chinese New Year dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
This year’s event was again held in one of Auburn’s newer and most elegant Chinese restaurants, The Happy Wok.
Our host, Mr. Kalo Wong, and his able-bodied staff served a delicious nine-course meal befitting our celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Big thanks must also go to June Yungblut and Stephanie Kuna for organizing such a great raffle, and to all those who donated gift items.
And I’d also like to thank our featured speakers of the evening, Rene Yung and Dr. Penny Ablin, who gave a presentation of their production: “Chinese Whispers — Sierra Stories,” a compilation of contemporary folk memories of Chinese who helped build the railroad and their many other contributions to the building of the West.
Again, I want to thank all those who attended our celebration for the Year of the Snake and also thank those who could not be present, but who still made contributions and donations to the Joss House Museum of Old Town Auburn.
And thanks to all those folks who have already signed up for our Chinatown bus trip in April. Gung Hay Fat Choy ! With humble and sincere thanks.
RICHARD YUE, president, Auburn Joss House Museum
