Salvation Army hosts backpack drive

Salvation Army of Roseville will host a backpack and school supply drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Wal-Mart, 1400 Lead Hill Blvd. in Roseville. The group needs backpacks, pencils, pens, paper, crayons, scissors, rulers and calculators. Collected items will be distributed to underprivileged children in south Placer County.

"When it comes to school, there are many parents in Roseville who are not able to afford the bare necessities for their children," said Lt. John Morrow, in a press release. "(Having) the right school supplies are so important in the development of these young students in both their academics and self-esteem."
