Search company makes Rocklin world headquarters
By: Michael Althouse, The Placer Herald
Focusing on local businesses, company provides a global reach to a local market
Move over Google, Rocklin is the world headquarters for a new Internet search site that just came online this month. TheSearchPages.com, the creation of founders Fred Miller and Shari Powers, provides free listing services to its visitors while making money by charging a fixed yearly fee for larger advertisements. Although the site is currently limited to just the automobile and real estate markets, in the coming weeks it will be expanding beyond these industries to include careers, food and wine, dating, education, events, health and wellness¦ just to name a few. But there is more to it than just free searching and listing of properties; the Search Pages gathers together related business and individual listings geographically by county, allowing its customers to find goods, services and agents in one convenient search. Homes, businesses, real estate agents are all listed by county, Miller said. Miller was a Remax dealer prior to forming Inter Solutions LLC, the parent company of the Search Pages. Consumers can now find homes, condos, land, rental properties, for sale by owners, commercial properties, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, title companies, pest companies, home inspectors, roofers, movers, and any other real estate related service provider all on one site and all in their local area, he said. It's lightning fast, it's easy and it's free. The Search Pages uses a search technology that is about 30 times faster than Google, Miller said. It's a local search engine, he said. Since their official nationwide launch on March 6, the Search Pages has logged more than 20,000 unique visitors from 77 different countries. We bring a global reach to a local market, Miller said. One early user of the service, Brian Kelley, owner of WIN Home Inspection in Rocklin, likes what he sees so far. I'm a big believer in marketing. When Fred told me his plan, I felt it tied in and complemented what I did, he said. Although Kelley said it is still too early to tell how effective the site is, he is very positive. I get 95 percent of my business from real estate agent referrals, Kelley said. Co-founder and Vice President Shari Powers has 21 years of experience in the real estate industry. She also has a keen interest in computers. According to Powers, before the Search Pages, getting to know all of the options available to the consumer meant consulting a wide variety of sources to get referrals. We're bringing agents and services together, she said, adding, We're getting a lot of local support. Eventually Miller expects the Search Pages to be nationally recognized as the go-to site for local goods and services - not just real estate. As the site adds more categories and becomes established, Miller expects to be hiring 300 to 400 new employees in the next six months, however, not all will be in Rocklin. We are in the process of setting up our (Rocklin) call center right now, Miller said. TheSearchPages.com is one of more than 300 sites owned by Inter Solutions, LLC.
