A pregnant motorist and her passenger were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Foresthill Road Monday afternoon. Dave Montijo, Auburn-area California Highway Patrol public information officer, said Kristen Olson, 27, of Foresthill, was driving her white Dodge Stratus westbound on Foresthill Road around 12:45 p.m. Monday when she crashed into a dirt embankment near Lower Lake Clementine Road. Olson failed to negotiate a turn in the road, due to her speed and the rain-slicked road, Montijo said. Olson, who is currently pregnant, and her passenger Daniel Kraft, 28, of Lodi, were transported by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with complaints of pain, Montijo said. Auburn Fire Department and Placer County sheriff’s deputies assisted CHP units at the scene. Traffic was not affected on Foresthill Road. Both Olson and Kraft were listed in fair condition as of late Monday afternoon, said Robin Montgomery, Sutter Roseville Medical Center spokeswoman. Montijo said it’s important for drivers to slow down and allow for extra travel time in conditions such as Monday’s wet weather. --Loryll Nicolaisen
