Two men are out of jail after allegedly beating up another man over his medical marijuana plants. Kenneth James Rutledge, 21, of Colfax, and Christopher Blake Hixson, 20, of Auburn, were arrested on a felony a charge of robbery and misdemeanor charges of battery, petty theft and transportation less than 28.5 grams of marijuana at about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15. The two were arrested at Rutledge’s home on the 800 block of New Valley Road. The two reportedly visited another Colfax man at his home the night before and allegedly stole six of his medical marijuana plants. The next day, when the victim, a 20-year-old man, realized the plants were gone, he traveled to Rutledge’s house, according to a report from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. It was then that the two suspects allegedly kneed and punched the victim, which caused him to suffer minor injuries. Rutledge and Hixson also reportedly stole the victim’s loaded shotgun, the report stated. Rutledge and Hixson were no longer in custody at Placer County Jail Friday. ~ Jenifer Gee
