Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce receipt of an $8,000 grant from the Union Pacific Foundation. Union Pacific Public Affairs Director Liisa Stark recenlty visited the State Theater and presented the grant to Executive Board Member Mike Holmes. This is the second grant that the nonprofit has received from Union Pacific Foundation.
Holmes stated, “Ongoing local support by individuals as well as foundations is what keeps us operating and will bring the theater expansion project to fruition.”
Since opening in May 2009, APPAC has attracted a total audience of 16,795 patrons. The theater is the home of Take Note Troupe, Placer Community Theater, Auburn Symphony Chamber Players, Placer Nature Center and ongoing civic events. APPAC presents an annual concert and film series as well as this year’s Clint Eastwood Film Festival.
“Union Pacific has such a rich history in Auburn, it is fitting that we can be involved with a historic architectural standout like the State Theater in Downtown Auburn,” Stark said. “Like many others, I have long been a patron of the theater and I am enthusiastic that it will continue to be an important part of the Auburn community.”
The $8,000 grant funds are earmarked for the capital campaign to expand the theater. For information about fundraising and the expansion of the State Theater, or to take a tour of the theater, call Janis Wikoff at (530) 885-0156.
