Veterans Parade should promote peace message

-A +A
Parade needs peace message It’s disappointing that the Veterans Day parade organizers were not open to the Veterans for Peace group participating in the parade. By trying to exclude them, the implication is that this is a “Veterans For War” parade. It’s hard to imagine that veterans — especially those who have actually seen combat and experienced the horrors and devastation of war — would not want to promote peace. Vets, above anyone, should be ambassadors for peace, and should welcome and respect anyone’s right to espouse peace. Perhaps a question that the parade organizers and all vets need to ask themselves is: Would our fallen comrades, who made the ultimate sacrifice, want there to be an annual Veterans Day parade without a message promoting peace?
