Colorado's Anton Krupicka was blazing down the Western States Trail Saturday afternoon on pace to shatter the course record at the Western States Endurance Run. Krupicka was in the lead pack all day and was holding off a hard-charging Geoff Roes when he hit the 85-mile mark of the 100-mile race. The front runners were on pace to cross the finish line in Auburn shortly after 8 p.m., which would beat Scott Jurek's course record of 15 hours, 36 minutes. Killian Jornet Burgada of Spain, had been in the lead group with Krupicka and Roes for much of the day, but fell off the pace between the Rucky Chucky River Crossing and Auburn Lake Trails. Canadian runner Tracy Garneau was in front in the women's race for most of the day Saturday. See AuburnJournal.com for updates on the race Saturday night.
