This week, the E.V. Cain Middle School wrestling team took to the mat in two matches to close out its season. The Wildcats’ 71-39 victory over Glen Edwards on Wednesday put the lid on yet another undefeated season (5-0). They also wrapped up a third consecutive Foothill Intermediate Schools Athletic League championship. Under the direction of head coaches Doug and Ken Yunk and volunteer assistants, this young group of athletes have been busy on the mats six days a week since the beginning of December. It’s a grueling season, but the results made it all worth while. The team will be on the back in action Saturday, as Placer High will host its annual middle school tournament at Earl Crabbe Gym. This is a great opportunity to see the wrestlers in action against many area teams. This tournament will help the team prepare for the Bi-County Finals coming up on Feb 19 at Del Oro.
