Joslynn Green picked a prime time to shoot the best round of golf of her life. The 10-year-old from Auburn caught fire at Pasatiempo Golf Club last month. She shattered her best nine-hole score with a 20-over-par 56, including a par on the final hole of the round on her way to victory at the Northern California PGA Junior Tour Championship. A sixth grader at E.V. Cain Middle School, Green made her debut in tournament golf earlier this month at Red Hawk. She took second place in that tournament to qualify for the season-ending championship. In the second round at Pasatiempo, Green came back down to earth with a 71, but she claimed the victory in the girls’ age 10-11 division on the strength of her opening round. “I was very excited,” Green said. “Golf is kind of a living for my whole family. I love it.” The daughter of Phil Green, who owns and operates Home on the Range driving range in Newcastle, Joslynn said she’s been swinging a club since she began to walk. Phil said he waited to let her compete until this year. The timing appears to have been perfect. Green smacks her drives off the tee as far as 180 yards. Her favorite club is her hybrid – a versatile wood that she often uses from the fairway. While the competitive season has wound down for Green, she has high aspirations for the coming years. “I want to get a full ride to UC Davis or Stanford,” Green said.
