The McNees had to have it cut down because its expansive root system was lifting the home from its foundation. Mark Chamberlin, who has been in the tree trimming business for 25 years, saws a limb off the redwood that stood about 120 feet tall in an Old Town Auburn neighborhood. The owners hired him to remove it after it was causing problems to the area. It took more than two weeks to tackle the project of bringing down this Aptos Blue redwood on Cora Lane in Old Town Auburn. All that remains from the 70-year-old redwood that was removed from a yard on Cora Lane in Auburn is a pile of sawdust and a couple stumps.
